Daryl Gurney came just a few legs away from being crowned the PDC U.S Masters Champion as he went all the way to the final. Not only did he just reach the final but he took apart the world number three Peter Wright and the world number and back-to-back world champion Gary Anderson along the way. He came up against Michael van Gerwen in the final who had hardly dropped a leg on his way to the final. Gurney came firing out of the blocks as he matched Van Gerwen all the way as he raced into a 5-3 lead. By Daryl's own admittion, he ran out of steam in the end as Van Gerwen won five out of the remaining six legs to clinch the title. Overall for Gurney it has been an extraordinary tournament as he fired in 180's like the treble twenty was the size of a bucket as he hit 26 maximums over the four matches he played. A tournament average of 97.31 as he impressed the American faithful as they continued to chant the name of Superchin

MATCH REPORT | Daryl Gurney - DJ Sayre

Daryl Gurney put in a delightful display as he seen off DJ Sayre in the last 16 of the PDC US Masters in Las Vegas on Friday. The Londonderry superstar suffered with a few double woes early on, but his scoring was phenomenal as he fired in SIX maximums which included six perfect darts as Superchin fired in a 98.58 average, his first nine average was an impressive 117.62 as he dominated the treble 20 bed.

Daryl Gurney kicked off the action at the US Masters in Las Vegas in the opening match and what an entrance he made to the competition as he recieved a terrific standing ovation from the American faithful as they all sang along to sweet caroline as the Northern Irish star made his entrance onto the big stage. It was a nervy start from the pair, It was Gurney who was first to the double but he missed four darts to claim the first leg and it was Sayre who took advantage as he took out 52. Gurney soon got that leg out of his mind immediately however as he fired in his first 180 of the match as he levelled things up at 1-1 courtesy of a 17-darter as he found D8. Leg Three was a superb leg from Gurney as he was six darts into a nine-darter as he recieved a terrific applause from the crowd, he ended the leg with an 11-darter as he took out 62 to move 2-1 ahead. Gurney continued his heavy scoring in the fourth leg as he fired in back-to-back 140's but unfortunately he experienced more double woes as he missed four darts to move 3-1 ahead and it was punished by Sayre as he took out 76 to level things up at 2-2. Gurney regained the lead as he fired in a 15-darter as he took out 61 to move 3-2 ahead. The Northern Irish star broken the throw of Sayre in leg six to some tune as he kicked off the leg with another maximum and finished it in spectacular style as he fired in a delightful 154 finish to move 4-2 ahead and after he pinned the D20 he orchestrated the American fans in attendance. Gurney went within a leg of the Quarter-Finals as he took out D6 at the fourth time of asking for a 15-darter just after missing D12 for an 11-darter. Superchin sealed his place in the last eight tomorrow as he took out 86 on the bullseye for another 15-darter capping off a delightful display on his World Series debut.

MATCH REPORT | Daryl Gurney - Peter Wright (Quarter-Finals)

Daryl faced off with the world number three Peter Wright in the last eight of the U.S Masters at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas. Gurney started the match off brightly as he took out 25 for a 17-darter just after he narrowly missed the bull for a 170 as he opened up a 1-0 lead. The pair traded 180's in the second leg but it was Wright who fired in D10 to level things up at 1-1. The Londonderry ace regained the lead at 2-1 courtesy of a 14-dart leg as he started the leg with his second maximum as he found 58 for a 2-1 lead. Wright held his throw firmly to level things up at 2-2 as he picked out D4. Daryl stepped it up a gear or two in leg five as he took out 4-1 for a 12-darter to go in at the break 3-2 to the good. Wright once again came back as he found a 15-dart hold of throw as he pinned D5. Gurney regained the lead once more as he punished two missed darts at double from Wright as he looked for a break of throw as Gurney picked out D8 for a 4-3 lead. Wright levelled things up at 4-4 courtesy of a 14-darter as the match looked poised to go all the way. Wright broke Daryl's throw to move 5-4 ahead with a 15-darter after Gurney missed two darts at D8 to hold. Wright opened up a two-leg lead as he fired in a stunning 156 checkout for a 12-darter. Gurney wasn't giving in easily as he responded with a 14-darter to close the gap to 6-5 as he took out 48. The comeback was complete as Gurney broke Wright's throw in leg 12 as he took out 47 on D16 for 6-6. Gurney once again stepped it up a gear as he gained more momentum in the contest as he fired in a 15-darter as he took out 74 for a 7-6 lead and within a leg of the Semi-Finals. The pair exchanged 180's at the start of the 14th leg but Wright had the advantage as he took out 49 on D10 with Gurney not being able to take out 92 to force the match into a 15th and deciding leg. Gurney had nerves of steel as he pulled out a 15-darter as he found D8 with his last dart in hand with Wright waiting to pounce on 81.

MATCH REPORT | Daryl Gurney - Gary Anderson ( Semi-Finals) 

Daryl took on the world number two Gary Anderson in the Semi-Finals of the U.S Masters in Las Vegas.

Daryl didn't get off to a great start in the Semi-Final clash as he found himself 3-0 behind missing a few chances at double and Anderson took full advantage. Gurney reduced the deficit to 3-1 as he picked out D10 for a 17-darter. Anderson increased his lead to 4-1 going into the break as he picked out tops for a 13-darter. The break came at the perfect time for Superchin as he went on a rampage. He reduced the deficit to 4-3 as he fired in a terrific 14-darter as he picked out tops as he punished two missed darts at tops from Anderson. Gurney completed the comeback as he levelled things up at 4-4 courtesy of a majestic 12-dart leg as he fired in two maximums followed by a 44 checkout. Gurney took the lead for the first time in the match courtesy of a 13-darter as he pinned D20 for a 5-4 advantage. Gurney didn't give Anderson any room for a comeback as he won the next three legs on the spin which included a 12-darter followed by a 13-darter to clinch a delightful victory as he booked his place in the Final.

MATCH REPORT | Daryl Gurney - Michael van Gerwen ( FINAL)

Daryl Gurney took on Michael van Gerwen in the final of the U.S Masters in Las Vegas and what a final it proved to be.

The Londonderry ace had a dart at the bull for a 12-darter to take the opening leg but he was refused another chance as Van Gerwen fired in a 124 finish on the bull to take the opening leg. Van Gerwen doubled his lead as he picked out D19 for a 13-darter. Van Gerwen experienced some double trouble in the third leg and Daryl took full advantage as he took out 84 on the bull to reduce the deficit to 2-1. The comeback was complete as DG fired in a delightful 13-darter as he picked out D12 to break Van Gerwen straight back. Gurney went in at the break 3-2 to the good as he won his third leg in succession as he picked out D4 after Van Gerwen missed two darts at D16. Van Gerwen levelled things up at 3-3 as he took out 72 on D11 after Gurney missed a dart at tops for a 116 finish. Gurney went on a two-leg rampage as he moved 5-3 to the good courtesy of a 15-darter and a 14-darter as he continued to attack the treble 20. Van Gerwen stepped it up a gear or three at this point and it's fair to say that Gurney ran out of steam a little as the workd number one won four legs on the spin to move 7-5 ahead. Gurney carried on fighting nonetheless and he he went within  a leg of Van Gerwen as he took out 120 under severe pressure for a 15-darter. In the 14th leg both players matched each other 140 by 140 but Van Gerwen managed to find a 12-darter as he took out 98 for the win with nothing Daryl could do (apart from hitting a nine-dart leg).
